RGCPD to Host ‘Coffee with a Cop’ this Friday

The Rio Grande City Police Department will host a Coffee with a Cop event at Faby’s Restaurant the Friday, January 5th, starting at 8:00 a.m.

“You’re invited to share your thoughts or enjoy a simple conversation with our police officers,” declared Rio Grande City Police Chief Noe Castillo. Faby’s Restaurant is located on 101 S. Briton Ave.

Police departments organize "Coffee with a Cop" meetings as a community outreach initiative to foster positive relationships between law enforcement officers and the communities they serve.

The aim is to break down barriers, build trust, and create an open dialogue where community members can express their concerns, ask questions, and share feedback with officers in a casual setting. By meeting face-to-face over a cup of coffee, conversations can be more personal and less intimidating, allowing for a better understanding of each other's perspectives.

Ultimately, these events contribute to building a sense of community partnership, improving communication, and enhancing the overall effectiveness of policing by promoting mutual respect and collaboration between the police and the public.
