Hometown Veterans Honored with Luncheon, Documentary Project

The Kelsey Bass Museum teamed up with the RGC Public Library and Medina Electric Cooperative, to host a Veterans Appreciation Drive-thru Luncheon at the Basilio Villarreal Municipal Park on Wednesday, November 8, to honor our veterans.

“Our 2023 Veterans Day Drive-Thru Luncheon was a great success,” stated Rio Grande City Mayor Joel Villarreal. “We would like to thank all veterans for their service and sacrifice to ensure our everyday freedoms.”

In addition to the luncheon event, The Kelsey-Bass Museum invited Rio Grande City veterans to participate in an oral history project. Five local veterans participated in the Museum’s documentary series titled: Our Hometown Veterans | An Oral History Series (Part One).

All Starr County Veterans from all branches of the military are officially invited to participate in future episodes of the series, and are encouraged to contact the Kelsey-Bass museum for more information. "Thank you for service to our country and community," stated Rio Grande City Mayor Joel Villarreal. "God bless you and God Bless America."
