MCALLEN, Texas — The International Museum of Art & Science will host a multisensory concert blending live chamber music and visual art on Sunday, Jan. 18.
The concert, titled “The Stars Resonate,” is scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m. at IMAS and will feature music performed by Trio Oriens, a chamber ensemble based in Taiwan, alongside live visual projections by photographer and visual artist Mark Chen.
The program includes “Rondo on Space and Time,” a newly composed work by composer J. Todd Frazier. The piece will be accompanied by live visuals from Chen, whose work explores connections between the cosmos, Earth and humanity and is featured in the museum’s “Pilgrimage of Light” exhibition.
Additional selections include a trio arrangement from Gustav Holst’s “The Planets,” featuring movements from Mars, Venus and Jupiter; “The Formosa Trio” by Taiwanese composer Tyzen Hsiao; and “Four Seasons” by Astor Piazzolla.
Trio Oriens is made up of violinist Shih-Ting Huang, cellist Olive Chen and pianist I-Ling Chen. The ensemble is known for combining classical repertoire with contemporary works and cross-disciplinary performances.
The concert is included with general museum admission. IMAS is located at 1900 W. Nolana Ave. in McAllen. Advance tickets are available through the museum’s website.
