Rio Grande City's Traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony Set for Nov.29

The Rio Grande City Main Street Program will host its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, November 29 at the Historic Britton Ave. Quiosco starting at 6:00 pm.

The downtown Tree Lighting Ceremony officially marks the beginning of the holiday season in our community, bringing people together to celebrate and share the joy of this festive time of year, with music, fun activities, and maybe a very special surprise guest from the North Pole.

Over the years, many in the residents have expressed how the downtown Christmas lighting ceremonies help foster a sense of community unity. "These events bring together people from all walks of life, transcending differences and promoting a shared sense of togetherness," stated Main Street Coordinator Yandery De La Cruz. "Whether you're a longtime resident or a visitor, everyone can join in the celebration, making it a powerful force for community bonding."

Rio Grande City's downtown Christmas lighting ceremonies have also shown to have a positive economic impact on the local community. They encourage residents and visitors to shop, dine, and explore the downtown area. Many businesses stay open late during these events and offer special promotions, resulting in increased foot traffic and sales. This boost in economic activity benefits local merchants and contributes to the overall prosperity of the community.
