Rio Grande City Public Library Hosts Successful Día Del Niño Celebration

The Rio Grande City Public Library delighted children and families with its annual Día Del Niño celebration, held on Thursday, April 25, at the Basilio Villarreal Municipal Park. This cherished event, dedicated to celebrating the joy of childhood and promoting literacy, brought together the community for a day of fun and learning.

During the event, the library's dedicated staff distributed free books to children, continuing their mission to promote literacy and a love for reading throughout the community. Additionally, several organizations, vendors, and businesses joined in the festivities, offering activities and treats for all who attended.

"We were thrilled to host the Día Del Niño celebration once again," said RGC Library Director Norma Fultz. "It's always a joy to see the smiles on the faces of children as they receive books and engage in activities that inspire their imaginations."

The highlight of the celebration was the performances by the Roque Guerra Elementary Cheerleaders, Grulla Elementary Cheerleaders, and the Starr County Martial Arts Academy. Their energetic and entertaining routines added to the festive atmosphere and captivated the audience.

"We extend a special thanks to the Roque Guerra Elementary Cheerleaders, Grulla Elementary Cheerleaders, and the Starr County Martial Arts Academy for their incredible performances," added Fultz. "Their participation helped make the event truly memorable."

Mayor Joel Villarreal and the City Commission of Rio Grande City expressed their gratitude to the Rio Grande City Public Library and all the participants for making the event a resounding success.

"Events like Día Del Niño bring our community together and provide valuable opportunities for children to learn, grow, and have fun," Mayor Villarreal said. "We thank the Rio Grande City Public Library for their dedication to promoting literacy and for organizing such a wonderful celebration."

The Rio Grande City Public Library looks forward to continuing its efforts to inspire and educate the youth of Rio Grande City through events like Día Del Niño.
