Rio Grande City Officials Celebrate 96th Anniversary of Iconic Suspension Bridge

Rio Grande City Mayor Joel Villarreal and RGC International Business Ambassador, Ruben Islas, attended the 96th Anniversary Ceremony for the renowned Suspension Bridge that spans the Rio Grande, linking Roma, Texas to Ciudad Miguel Aleman.

The ceremony, held to honor the bridge's enduring significance, provided Mayor Villarreal with a platform to discuss the mutual advantages this historic structure has bestowed upon the region. In his address during the celebration, Mayor Villarreal emphasized the bridge's pivotal role in facilitating connectivity, trade, and cultural exchange across borders.

"The Suspension Bridge stands as a symbol of unity and prosperity, enriching the lives of our communities for nearly a century," Mayor Villarreal remarked.

The presence of Mayor Villarreal and Ambassador Islas underscored Rio Grande City's commitment to fostering cross-border cooperation and strengthening ties with neighboring municipalities.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to mark this significant milestone, the City of Rio Grande City extends its appreciation to Roma Mayor Jaime Escobar Jr. and Alcalde Ramiro Cortez Barrera of Ciudad Miguel Aleman for their collaboration in organizing the commemorative event.

As the Suspension Bridge enters its 96th year of service, it serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring bonds and shared aspirations that unite the Rio Grande Valley.
