The Rio Grande City Fire Department is proud to announce the newest addition to its ranks: Oreo, a charming Dalmatian, who will serve as the department's official mascot.

In a heartwarming gesture, the Fire Department has embraced Oreo as a beloved member of the team, symbolizing the longstanding connection between firefighters and Dalmatians. The tradition of Dalmatians accompanying firefighters dates back centuries, with these loyal and courageous dogs historically serving as companions and guardians in the fire service.

"We are thrilled to welcome Oreo to our Fire Department family," Rio Grande City Fire Department Chief Manuel Muniz. "Dalmatians have a special place in firefighting history, and Oreo will carry on that tradition with pride and joy."

Oreo's adoption as the Fire Department's official mascot marks a significant milestone in the department's history, underscoring its commitment to tradition, camaraderie, and community engagement. As the embodiment of courage, loyalty, and resilience, Oreo will accompany firefighters on various community outreach events, educational programs, and public appearances.
