RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas - Following the success of last year’s event, the Rio Grande City Public Library is preparing to return to pop culture fandom with its second annual RGC Comic Con set for Feb. 21 at the CDA Event Center.

The event is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the venue, also known as the KC Hall, located at 201 E. Fourth St. Library Director Norma Fultz said the convention will feature cosplay, authors, special guests and a variety of activities centered on comics, gaming and popular culture.

“RGC Comic Con is designed to bring together community members of all ages who share an interest in creative arts, storytelling and fandom culture,” Fultz said. “Last year’s turnout was a surprise and showed us that comic and pop culture fandom in Rio Grande City is larger than we expected. Events like Comic Con provide a space for fans, artists and creators to connect while celebrating creative storytelling and imagination.”

Once again, RGC Comic Con will feature free admission and is open to the public. A highlight of the event will be the cosplay contest, where participants are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite characters for a chance to win prizes.

Library staff encourage attendees to participate in costume and take part in the day’s activities, noting that the event is open to anyone interested in comics, gaming and pop culture.

For more information, the public can contact the Rio Grande City Public Library at 956-487-4389.
