Officer by Day, Musician by Heart: Cruzeta Releases Valentine’s Track

RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas - On most days, Officer Daniel Cruz can be found serving the community in uniform with the Rio Grande City Police Department. But outside of his police duties, Cruz turns to music, writing and recording under the name Cruzeta, a creative path shaped by life, emotion and the culture of his hometown.
Cruz recently released his newest single, San Valentin, a Valentine’s Day-inspired track featuring fellow local musician Chris Solis. The song blends themes of love, reflection and personal experience, drawing from moments familiar to many in Rio Grande City and across South Texas.
For Cruz, music has long been more than a hobby. It’s a way to express emotion, share personal stories and connect with people beyond his role in law enforcement. He hopes that side of himself helps the community see officers in a more human light.
“I hope my music helps people understand that police officers are people just like them,” Cruz said. “We have a job to do, but we also have passions, dreams and goals.”
Cruz said believes creative expression can help build stronger understanding between officers and the community, offering a reminder that behind the badge are individuals shaped by the same life experiences, struggles and aspirations shared by the people they serve.
His music often reflects raw emotion and real-life perspective. While some songs include explicit language, Cruz said the tone reflects the natural rhythm of communication and storytelling common in his hometown, where music frequently serves as a reflection of everyday life.
Balancing duty and creativity, Cruz hopes to continue to serve his community while pursuing his passion for music, using both roles as ways to connect with the people of Rio Grande City.
