Brownsville native Gabriela Ebel recently performed on one of the world’s biggest stages, appearing as a dancer during the Super Bowl halftime show alongside global music stars including Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.

Ebel, who grew up in Brownsville and graduated from Homer Hanna High School, was among dozens of performers featured in the 13-minute, mostly Spanish-language production held Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The performance marked a significant milestone for the Rio Grande Valley native, who now works as a dance instructor in Los Angeles specializing in Latin fusion, hip-hop, house and jazz funk.

According to reporting by MySA, Ebel took part in a choreographed wedding-themed segment of the halftime show, performing near Lady Gaga during one of the production’s featured moments.

The Super Bowl halftime show, headlined by Bad Bunny, drew millions of viewers worldwide and featured a performance largely centered on Latino culture and Spanish-language music.
