Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for New 'Upscale' Events Center in RGC

A groundbreaking ceremony took place on Monday evening, September 16, in Rio Grande City for the soon to be constructed Versailles Events venue.

The ceremony was hosted by The Rio Grande City Greater Chamber of Commerce and investors Jesus and Norma Ruiz and their family.

Members of the RGC Greater Chamber welcomed those present and presented Mr. and Mrs. Ruiz with a commemorative plaque. Rio Grande City Mayor Joel Villarreal spoke of the pride he feels to welcome a new and upscale events center to the ever-growing community.

Mr. Ruiz explained the 12,500 square-foot venue is set to be completed by Spring 2020 and will have a max capacity of up to 600 people with additional outdoor areas available for smaller social, and corporate events.

Jesus and Norma Ruiz, with over 34 years of experience as owners of Princess Bridal in Palmview, expressed their gratitude to all those present and the community for their graciousness in welcoming them to Rio Grande City and Starr County.
