Rio Grande City Mayor, Joel Villarreal, emphasized the City's Public Utilities Department has several upcoming projects that could benefit from planning with a business perspective. "Without the [Public Utilities Dept.] it is hard for the city to grow," stated Mayor Villarreal. Cruz fills the position left open following the resignation of former Rio Grande City Public Utilities Director, Araceli Saenz. At the meeting, Mr. Perez took a moment to recognize the efforts of Mrs. Cindy Escamilla who severed as interim P.U. Director since Saenz' departure late last year.
