PHARR, Texas - Commercial traffic at the Pharr International Bridge continued to rise in January, contributing to a sharp increase in monthly revenue, officials reported during a recent Bridge Board meeting.
Luis Bazan, director of the Pharr International Bridge, told board members the port recorded $2,981,788 in revenue for January 2026, representing nearly a 70% increase compared with the same period last fiscal year.
“We had a great month,” Bazan said while presenting monthly crossings and revenue figures. “I’m happy to report some really good numbers.”
Bridge officials indicated the increase reflects continued growth in commercial crossings, a key driver of activity at one of the region’s primary international trade gateways.
During the finance report, Eddie Gutierrez of Bluestone Capital Solutions said total revenues through January 2026 reached $8,863,945. Of that amount, approximately 97%, or $8,564,676, came from toll collections, highlighting the central role of vehicle and commercial crossings in the bridge’s financial performance.
Additional revenue included about $94,000 in credit card fees, $65,000 in bond-related interest, $25,000 from currency exchange, roughly $79,000 in rental income and $34,000 categorized as other revenue, Gutierrez said.
Officials also reported toll collections outperformed projections. Through the end of January, toll revenues totaled $8,564,676, exceeding the budgeted amount of $7,438,567. Compared with the same four-month period last fiscal year, toll collections were up about 22%, officials said.
The Pharr International Bridge is one of the busiest commercial crossings in the Rio Grande Valley, particularly for produce and agricultural shipments. Officials said continued growth in crossings reflects steady trade activity and demand for cross-border transportation through the port.
